amazing stir-fried beef noodles at Sarawak Kitchen. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the beef was tender and flavorful, and the veggies added a nice crunch. Plus, their Ribena lemonade is seriously refreshing - perfect for a hot day . The staff were super friendly too. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Being from Sibu Sarawak and grown with kampua mee, I’m forever in search of that taste of kampua and sarawak laksa overseas having left Sibu more than 30 years ago. Reading the reviews and looking at the photos gave me some confidence that I can find authentic Sibu/ Sarawak tastes here, so when I got the chance to visit Melbourne recently, I made sure I visited here. The menu is pretty extensive but I’m set on the sarawak laksa and kampua mee, and the hard decision was whether to get a “plain” original version or one of the modern versions. In the end, I opted for laksa with Hainanese chicken and kampua mee combo with pork offal soup. When the laksa arrived, I could instantly recognise that aroma of sarawak laksa as opposed to the more commonly available curry laksa. The first taste of the soup brought back childhood memories, and each and every slurp was just as good. The hainanese chicken was very good too. Next comes the kampua mee. Again, the taste was unmistakably nostalgic. It’s one of very places outside of Sibu that I’ve tasted kampua that reminded me of Sibu. Even the char siew and roast pork were excellent. Even after being thoroughly satisfied with the laksa and kampua, I was surprised by the quality of the curry puffs. They were so good that I had to take some away to savour later. The portion sizes were very generous. I had the regular size kampua was it was plenty and I would you need a big appetite (and stomach) to order a large! Needless to say, I’m planting on return visit whenever I visit Melbourne again in the future.

When you are from East Malaysia and have a hankering for some delicious lard laden noodles. This is the place. So much other Malaysian goodness as part of their menu. Satisfied and happy tummies.

We stumbled upon a small Malaysian restaurant that turned out to be a delightful find. The space downstairs fits around 20 people, while seating upstairs is also limited. The service was warm and welcoming, handled by two lovely young ladies who added to the inviting atmosphere. Orders are placed at the counter, keeping things simple and relaxed. We tried the Kolo Mee and Bak Kut Teh, and both were absolutely delicious. The Kolo Mee had that perfect springy noodle texture with a savoury, well-balanced sauce. The Bak Kut Teh was rich, aromatic, and comforting—just the way it should be.

A hidden gem! We came here on a whim, and we're already making plans to come back. The food was delicious, came out quickly, and was just the right portion size (a little on the bigger side but not so big that we felt sick leaving). We ordered the Soft Shell Crab Sarawak Laksa (53) and the Beef Hor Fun (38). The laksa was the best we've ever had, and the crab was delicious. The shell was a little chewy, but this was the first time we've had soft shell crab, so we're unsure if that's typical. The Hor Fun was the perfect comfort food - I didn't add chilli oil, but it was an option and could have been a nice addition.
